FishSMART Ultra was developed to address the issue of Omega 3 deficiency and to take advantage of the health benefits of EPA and DHA. Each enteric-coated capsule contains 300 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA derived from mackerel, sardine and anchovy, with Lipase and peppermint oil. FishSMART Ultra is GMO-free and certified free of pesticides, PCBʼs and heavy metals. The enteric coating allows the fish oil to survive the stomach acid, and is directly delivered to the colon.

In 1996 the New England Journal of Medicine published a paper showing the benefits of enteric coated fish oil in Crohn's disease, reducing the rate of relapse. Enteric coating also prevents burping up the taste of the fish oil. Each capsule contains a proprietary blend of Lipase and peppermint oil called Ultragest. Lipase is an enzyme that breaks down fats so that oils are properly absorbed. Many people, especially those with bowel or liver disease cannot properly digest fats without enzymes such as lipase. FishSMART Ultra also contains enteric coated peppermint oil, which has an antispasmodic activity in the digestive tract. In 1997 the Journal of Gastroenterology reported that enteric coated peppermint oil significantly reduced abdominal pain, distension, and flatulence in 52 patients with IBS.

Each 1000 mg FishSMART Ultra capsule contains 300 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA, a ratio that reflects the amounts used in the majority of clinical studies with fish oil. Unlike many similar products on the market, these oils are packaged in dark-colored capsules to protect the quality of the oils.
