One Theory of Disease.
Occasionally, the light bulbs goes on in my head.
This should happen more frequently, but with the day-to-day running of our business, it
is too easy to get caught up in the material issues like getting orders out in time and
too easy to deny the need to stand back, and smell the roses.
In this case, the roses were delivered to me by Eileen, who presented me with a whole
new concept of disease - the "Leaky Gut" syndrome. Not too aesthetic a subject,
but then there are few aesthetics in disease. Nor should there be, for it is an unnatural
state, and deserves to be described in derogatory terms. Not that that helps the poor
unfortunates (most of America's population) who suffer from illnesses today!
As a childhood and adolescent sufferer of asthma and multiple allergies, my mind has
often explored the rationale of these ailments, with little success. A switch 40 years ago
to vegetarianism largely solved the problems I had suffered from most of my life, but
never fully explained the "Whys" of these ailments. Until I read Dr. Zoltan
Rona's article.
Health, and disease are things that can never be taken for granted - I believe it is a
cop-out to accept that your genes fully determine whether you will fall prey to one of the
many serious diseases which afflict us today. The concept of:: "Eat drink and be
merry, for tomorrow you die" would allow all of us to trash our lives far faster than
we are doing now. A lot more fun, perhaps, but short lived fun! And not pleasant towards
the end.
We do, and always will, have some control over our health; not perfect health, perhaps,
but sufficient to allow us to partake in the American's birthright: "The pursuit of
happiness!"
Dr. Rona article explained to me why the most intractable auto-immune generated
diseases, (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, CFS) are caused, but more importantly, how
they can be CURED - not instantly, overnight, but deliberately, slowly and surely. A far
cry from the TV ads promise of "Instant relief" for everything in the book -
their book, that is.
Do I believe that everyone who sufferers from one of these devastating diseases will be
converted after reading Dr. Rona's article? Of course not! The medical industry still
holds power beyond belief - to admit that their past treatments had been the cause of an
"incurable" illness would doubtless invalidate their malpractice insurance,
never mind deflate their god-like egos!
Do I believe we now have both the knowledge and the tools to help these poor people to
escape from their physical and emotional living hells? Yes, but it will take great faith
on their part to turn away from antibiotics, pain killers and antacids and embark on a
self healing regimen using remedies which are very likely to be laughed at by their
physicians.
But then faith is one of our most powerful emotions.
