A primer on how the body seeks
to maintain a state of health rather than sickness, and how you can assist it to
strengthen its immune system to withstand the illness you see around you.
Natural healing
Information Center
New killer viruses, mutant bacteria, e-coli contamination of our food and
water are the media's new SENSATIONAL HEADLINES. It is no wonder that
natural healing is becoming the accepted form of treatment, as the medical profession
seems incapable of providing answers, let alone effective treatments for these modern day
dangers. Yet so much confusion surrounds the ways in which natural healing can treat
common diseases. The Page will try to dispel many of the myths, and provide important
information on how to help your body heal itself using proven cutting edge Nutritional
Supplements.
The Philosophy of Disease.
The subject is vast, and cannot be covered in a few paragraphs. What we
intend to provide is a concise guide to the principles of the body's workings, and its
breakdowns; when to call the Tow-truck, and when to open the hood ourselves. But unlike
the modern automobile, whose workings are beyond the understanding of most of us unless we
are computer programmers, our bodies are the same wonderful system which have developed
over millennia. Yet orthodox Medicine, aided and abetted by the Pharmaceutical Companies,
looks at disease in our bodies as though there is something wrong with nature and only the
most hi-tech, and expensive equipment they have developed is capable of providing
diagnoses and treatment. Far from it, for their basic assumption is wrong.
If you believe that "germs" are the cause of disease, how can
you explain man's (and woman's!) survival up until the 21st century? Bacteria, viruses and
all the other yuks we are warned about are the oldest and most resilient form of life, and
would have killed off the human race tens of thousands of years ago if our survival
depended upon antibiotics and all the hi-tech chemicals the drug companies are peddling
these days at the Physician's offices.
The only way the human race has survived is through developing a natural,
built in ability to resist 'germs' which are everywhere, and have always been everywhere
in astronomical numbers. We don't just meet a single bug of a single strain of a
particular virus and fall sick. A baby would not live to see its first birthday if we did.
The war against disease is going on continuously in our bodies. We only know about it if
our immune systems are too weak to win the battle, and warn us by creating symptoms, which
have been given grand medical names, and for which the Pharmaceutical Companies have
produced a myriad of high profit 'medications' whose sole purpose is to get rid of the
symptom, so we feel 'well' again. Side effects? "Sorry. We never promised you we
would keep your heart valves in good shape. Only that you would loose weight! But you did,
didn't you? So stop whining!"
No wonder our immune systems are weak, and people are
generally sickly.
Environmental degradation.
To support this comfortable modern lifestyle we are programmed to live in, we poison the
air with pollutants from power and chemical plants and our autos; poison our soils with
chemical fertilizers and herbicides; poison our rivers and seas with industrial and
agricultural runoff and even poison ourselves using the products which are advertised as
being good for us, even cosmetics! Not to mention the mercury rich fillings we pay our
dentists to poison us with!
And where is the FDA when we need them? We cut their budget, and then
whine when the burger meat or drinking water is full of e-coli
(s--t!). And our fruits and vegetables arrive from foreign countries grown with pesticides
and herbicides we have banned in the US 20 years ago, and contaminated with minute
parasites which make us sick! How can a single individual FDA inspector stand up to the
huge meat packing plant he is paid to police. If the bribes don't get to him, the
intimidation will.
The Philosophy of Health
This philosophy starts with the assumption that humans are naturally
healthy, and can, with TLC, stay that way. Disease should be an aberration, not a normal
condition. So why is there so much disease in the world? Two basic factors seem to be to
blame - both our own faults as a species.
Bad living habits. We have been programmed to believe in
the infinite wisdom of 'experts', both medical and technical, who have promised 'quick
fixes' to everything from disease to river flooding. We live in a highly modified world
with highly modified climate and an environment which has been so changed in the last 100
years that the few living centurions cannot even relate their childhood experiences to
those our children are growing up in. Food is grown in impoverished soils using chemicals.
When harvested, more chemicals are poured onto it to 'protect' it. Cattle and hens are fed
hormones and antibiotics in their diets (not to mention the contaminants which resulted in
'Mad Cow Disease") to make them grow faster, produce more milk when the country has a
surplus; generally provide the highest possible profits for the Agro-businesses and the
Chemical companies which they buy from.
We eat at fast food 'restaurants' because we see them advertised, and we are basically too
lazy to cook up a wholesome home cooked meal for the kids who refuse to eat 'green stuff'.
Where is Pop-eye when we need him?
A strategy for health
With all this going on around us, it is too easy to leave it to the
experts, because of the complexity of the situation. Individually we can't clean up our drinking water supplies, farm our own organic food, and live in clean
air capsules.
Yet leaving all this to the experts is the worst thing to do. It creates a
climate of health dependency far more dangerous to ourselves and the US than Welfare
dependency will ever be. When, in life, has any outside agency or individual really helped
you? Never! Your survival to date, physically, financially, socially, has been your own
doing. So why rely on outside agencies to provide for your health when the ability to do
this is within your reach?
The security which good health can bring is immeasurable, as is the peace
of mind when the latest report on contaminated water or burger meat comes on to your TV
news.
Action alerts
The following pages will take you through a short primer on how to take
charge of your own health. This does not pretend to be a definitive work on such a complex
subject which has been explored in countless books by authors far more qualified than
myself. It will try only to alert you to certain proven principles. If these grab your
attention, follow up reading a few of the best books on the
subject, and make up your own mind.
